10 Tips For Writing Ads that Produce Results

April 24th, 2009 admin 1 comment

Here is a list of 10 tips for writing an effective ad.

1. Use keywords that people search in search engines in your ad title. You can use free keyword tools to find relevant keywords.

2. Read paid ads for the same keywords that appear on the search result pages. You can perform a search in Google using the keywords and see all the ads that appear on the right hand side of the search result page. Study them. If you see the same ads appearing on the search result page for a long time, you know the ad is working for the advertisers and people are clicking on the ad.

3. Say some thing in the ad that sets you apart from other similar ads.

4. Use the language of your typical audience. For example, if your audience is online marketers, they will understand what a linkbait is and your choice of the word may set you apart from other ads.

5. Talk to your audience directly in your ad. Use words like you and your. Avoid I and me.

6. Be specific in your ad. Don’t force your readers’ to guess. Instead of saying discounted price, say 20% discounted.

7. Tell what is the benefit of your product. Does it make money (and how much), save time or money, improve health or skill? It should be credible.

8. Create different versions of the same ad and test their effectiveness.

9. Create a sense of urgency. If your readers think they will visit your site later, they will never visit your site.

10. And the most important thing is to include a call to action. For that, you can consult Dave’s blog post at redflymarketing.com that I have mentioned earlier.
